Jewellery making, clay works, hairband & tote bag making as well as our online math and youth preneurs courses are is a highly adaptable and can be tailored to meet a wide range of needs, abilities, and learning styles, making it particularly suitable for SEND learners. Courses can take place in-person, on site or remotely.
Rationale and Benefits
1. Development of Fine Motor Skills
Jewellery making involves activities such as threading beads, using pliers, shaping wire, and fastening clasps. These actions help strengthen fine motor control, hand–eye coordination, and finger dexterity. For children with motor skill challenges, these repetitive yet engaging movements provide valuable physical development in a non-clinical, enjoyable way. The same can be said for a full range of creative courses...
2. Sensory Engagement and Regulation
Many SEND children benefit from structured sensory input. Ou workshops offer a rich sensory experience through different textures, colours, weights, and materials. The predictable, hands-on nature of the activity can help children self-regulate, reduce anxiety, and remain focused, particularly for those with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing differences.
3. Emotional Wellbeing and Self-Esteem
Creating a finished piece of art, crafts, a logo for a potential business or the completion of our interactive maths course gives children a strong sense of achievement and pride. Seeing a tangible result from their own effort can significantly boost self-confidence and self-worth. Our workshops and courses encourages positive risk-taking, perseverance, and resilience, while providing a calm and supportive space where mistakes are seen as part of the creative process.
4. Communication and Social Skills
Our courses and workshops can be delivered in small groups, encouraging cooperation, turn-taking, and shared problem-solving. Children may choose to talk about their designs, ask for help, or support peers, helping to develop communication and social interaction skills in a natural, low-pressure setting. For non-verbal or minimally verbal children, the creative process itself offers an alternative form of self-expression.
5. Inclusion and Personalisation
Our courses can be easily differentiated to suit individual needs, abilities, and learning plans. Tasks can be broken down into simple steps, adapted tools can be used, and children can work at their own pace. Design choices allow for personal expression, ensuring each child feels valued and included regardless of ability level.
6. Creativity and Cognitive Development
Our tailored workshops and courses support cognitive skills such as sequencing, planning, pattern recognition, and decision-making. Children are encouraged to make choices about colour, shape, and design, supporting independent thinking and creativity while reinforcing focus and concentration.
